EXTREMELY excited that The Firebird Song by Arnée Flores was at my local library. Now time for some poolside reading! 😄

I'm discovering that June gloom is, in fact, real. It was a gray, windy day, but nothing a good book couldn't fix. I finished Spin the Dawn this afternoon and can't wait to read the sequel! What have you been reading?

My face when I'm stuck at the car dealership, waiting for my tire to be changed, and I don't have a book *mild panic*

Two years ago yesterday was the last day I spent in Italy. We stayed in Caldonazzo and visited the beautiful lake often. I was jealous of the little girl I saw there once, swimming and playing without a shirt on, something that would never happen in the states. I yearn for a time where no one is sexualized, where we can be free to just be, and little kids can run around and swim in whatever state of dress they want to.

Two years ago, I visited Verona. Being an English major, and a lover of Shakespeare, I had to go see Juliet's statue and balcony. But what I saw and experienced wasn't what I was hoping for. And it wasn't until I put this event and my feelings into words that I really understood what bothered me about it. It reminded me too much of rape culture.

Two years ago, on this exact day, I was in Florence, Italy. The weather was cloudy and rainy, and at one point in the day I was soaked through.
